The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing an incident at Bath Police Station in St Thomas in which a cop discharged a firearm which resulted in three of his colleagues being injured on Saturday, October 26.

It’s reported that about 9:45 am, the cop was inside the guard room clearing a service Glock seventeen 9mm pistol belonging to a policewoman when he reportedly discharged the gun.

A sergeant, a constable and a district constable were injured.

They were taken to hospital for treatment, however, their injuries are not life-threatening.

It’s understood that the policewoman placed the gun in a drawer in the guard room and accompanied other colleagues to the cells.

When they returned to the guard room, it is alleged that the policeman removed the gun from where it had been placed.

He reportedly released the magazine and then pulled back its slide, carrying out safety procedures to hand it over to the policewoman.

It is said that, during that process, an explosion was heard and it was discovered that the firearm had been discharged.

The sergeant and the policewoman sustained an injury to their left leg while the district constable was injured in her right ankle, all reportedly by bullet fragments.
