Police investigators say they have received information that suggests that an adult on the outside assisted three teenagers in their escape from the Barrett Town lock-up in St James on Friday, October 25.

Investigators say it has been reported that a taxi driver was on the outside waiting to pick up the youngsters after they fled the police facility.

The police sources said they have managed to track down the name of the driver, but will not disclose it until their investigations are complete.

The development means that the driver in question is now a person of interest to the investigators, but the cops on the case declined to discuss that matter at the present stage of the probe.

Late on Saturday, the police said they launched a search for the three male juveniles after they managed to cut the locks to the cell in which they were being held.

It was confirmed that one of the juveniles who escaped is a 13-year-old who was in custody for illegal possession of a firearm.

The other teenagers, aged 16 and 17-year-old, were also in custody in connection with serious crimes.

Reports are that about 5.30 pm, the teenagers, whose names are being withheld because they are minors, were discovered missing from the cell in which they had been placed.
