Scores of commuters in St. Ann were left stranded this morning (Tues), due to flooded roadways across the parish.

Among the flooded areas were sections of the thoroughfare from Brown’s Town to Runaway Bay, in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant, and Hog Hole, in Ocho Rios.

Several public passenger vehicle operators withdrew their services as they waited for the waters to recede.

Access has since been restored to the roadway.

Meanwhile, sections of St. Mary and Portland also experienced flooding this morning.

Motorists reported encountering flooded roadways from White Hall to Port Maria and in the Baileys Vale areas of St Mary.

The National Works Agency, NWA, earlier issued an advisory noting that a section of the Palmento road between Guys Hill and Highgate was also partially blocked by heavy rain and had been reduced to single lane traffic.

The Agency said several rivers were also in spate and had overflowed onto roads in Dressike and Jacks river.

In Portland, flooding was reported along the Seamans Valley road in the Rio Grande Valley.

The NWA says access has since been restored to crossroads in Runaway Bay, St. Ann.
