Despite a steady decrease in daily Covid-19 cases, Chief Medical Officer Dr Jacquiline Bisasor Mckenzie says it is too early to tell if Jamaica has reached the peak of the fourth wave.

In recent weeks daily Covid-19 cases have been under the 1000 mark leading to speculation that the country might have already passed the peak of the fourth wave.

The health ministry had projected that the peak of the fourth wave could see some 11,500 cases and up to 300 deaths in a week.

Dr Bissassor Mckenzie says despite the decrease in Covid-19 cases there is still a high number of deaths being reported.

The CMO explained that with possible inadequate testing, it is prudent to still be cautious.
