Amid reports of discomfort amongst some transport operators, over the postponement of the fare increase, which should have come into effect yesterday (Mon), at least one transport group is urging operators, not to participate in strike action.

Groups representing public passenger operators and the finance and transport ministries, have agreed to hold off on a scheduled 16 percent fare increase for April 1.

Some transport operators are reportedly not in favour of the move and have been discussing possible strike action for today (Tues).

But the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services TODSS, has urged them not to take that route.

TODSS President Edgerton Newman says there will be a zero tolerance approach for such action.
