ABC News suspended “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks on Tuesday night, one day after she drew significant criticism for falsely declaring that the Holocaust was “not about race.”
In a statement, ABC News president Kim Godwin bluntly described Goldberg’s comments about the Holocaust, which were made on “The View” Monday, as “wrong and hurtful.” Godwin also said, “The entire ABC News organisation stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”
However, ABC staffers are not happy with just a suspension as they are insisting that her apology isn’t enough and demanding that she be fired.
Earlier today, the New York Post reported that a source allegedly close to Whoopi says she is “livid” about her suspension, adding that the 66-year-old actress feels “humiliated”. ” She feels ABC executives mishandled this. She followed their playbook. She went on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ and then apologized again on ‘The View’ the next day”, the source said. The source also added that she is taking the suspension hard.
Her suspension has sparked a fierce debate on social media about “cancel culture”.
