Two Jamaican nationals, a man and a woman, are facing charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act following the seizure of USD 70,000 at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

Deno Baker, 44, from Old Harbour, St. Catherine, and Randy-Kay Blair, 34, from Harrison Town, St. Ann, were charged with various offences including possession of criminal property, cross-border movement of funds, bringing criminal property into Jamaica, concealing criminal property, and conspiracy.

Anomalies in their luggage were observed during security procedures upon their arrival from Turks and Caicos.

Subsequent searches revealed USD 39,828.00 in Baker’s luggage and USD 30,460.00 in Blair’s, both concealed in jars with hair products.

After being taken into custody and questioned with their attorneys present, they were charged by detectives from the Narcotics Division Police Division and are scheduled to appear in court on March 21.
