THE COUNTRY CONTINUES TO RECORD A DECLINE IN MURDERS

The country continues to record a decline in murders.

As at Sunday March 6, 261 murders were committed in the country, 21 fewer than the 282 recorded in the corresponding period last year.

All police divisions have recorded murders since January 1.

St. James recorded the highest with 44, followed by St. Catherine North with 28.

Meanwhile, Portland recorded the lowest number of murders with 3, followed by Manchester with 5.

The police are also reporting declines in cases of rape, robbery and break-ins.
