Several lawsuits have been filed against the government by persons who faced undue delay in court cases being heard, especially appeals.

And the list of applicants continues to grow with another person stating his intention earlier this week, to seek redress.

Brian Russell was freed by the Appeal Court on Monday, after the court quashed his conviction and 11-year sentence, due to the 8 year wait for his appeal to be heard.

He claimed that his fundamental rights under the constitution were violated.

Mr. Russell is one of many persons, assisted by human rights lobby groups, Jamaicans for Justice, JFJ and Stand Up for Jamaica SUFJ, as part of a collaborative project, with the public law chambers.
