Privy Council Decision Explained

Earlier today, the UK-based Privy Council handed down its verdict in relation to the appeal of the murder conviction of dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel and his three co-accused, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John.

Immediately following the Privy Council’s judgement, social media erupted, with many questioning what exactly this means for the embattled artiste. Legal jargon such as “quashed” and “remitted to the Court of Appeal” were used, and many Jamaicans voiced their confusion on various social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok.
