In an effort to strengthen the investigative process in the Portland Division, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) headquarters, the Major Investigation Division in Kingston along with additional Specialist Forensic Crime Scenes Investigators have been assigned to support ongoing investigations in the parish.
Head of the CIB Assistant Commissioner of Police McArthur Sutherland wishes to assure the public, of the highest level of professionalism regarding the investigation of the following major investigations currently carried out in Port Antonio, which have raised particular concerns.
They are the murder of Tevin McKenzie and the shooting of two other persons, committed on Thursday, March 28 about 10:30 p.m., at West Street in Port Antonio and the shooting of two men, committed on Sunday, March 31 about 1:15 a.m., on the same street.
The investigations are progressing apace and the assigned investigators are prepared to pursue all investigative leads that have emerged so far.
The police say they are relying on the continued cooperation of the public in making breakthroughs in both matters.
