On the heels of several robberies targeting females in the corporate area, the police say they have been employing numerous strategies aimed at nabbing criminals to help reduce incidents of robberies.

Several of the cases have been reported in the Matilda’s Corner Police area.

Inspector of Police attached to the station, Earl Grant says for the past several months there have been challenges with robberies in the Kingston 6 and Kingston 8 areas.

He said females and other vulnerable persons have been tailed from the bank in the shopping area and their bags have been snatched.

Cars have also been broken into and valuables removed from them.

Inspector Grant said the police have been taking action to try and stem the robberies.

Former Miss Jamaica Universe Kaci Fennell was among the victims of robbery in the corporate area, yesterday (Wed).

According to a Twitter post, her bag was snatched by men who escaped on a waiting motorcycle as she was about to enter a popular supermarket.

Inspector Grant noted that police responded to the incident but were unable to apprehend the culprits.

The Inspector added that daily deployment of officers will continue in the areas.
