The Planning Institute of Jamaica, P-I-O-J, is to conduct an assessment of the impact of the strike by some public sector workers, last week.

Workers attached to the National Water Commission, Air Traffic Controllers and the National Housing Trust, walked off the job, resulting in disruptions, in service.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government needs to understand the impact, of an industrial shock.

He explains that the PIOJ is also assessing the country’s prospects for growth.\

Mr. Holness says the government needs to reclassify public sector compensation, so workers can be better paid.

He states that he is disappointed, that persons are not acting in a rational fashion.

According to Mr. Holness, there are general issues about matters such as respect and inclusion, but he doesn’t believe the solution is to deprive the country of the progress taking place.

He says workers can find ways to express their concerns without disrupting the progress of others.
