The mentally challenged man who reportedly chopped and killed a 3 year old boy and wounded several other people in Pagee St. Mary last week Wednesday, has been charged.
He is 33 year old labourer Devon Williams of Pagee and West Springfield Massachusetts in the United States.
Reports are that on Wednesday May 29, Williams used a knife and a piece of iron pipe, to inflict several wounds to 6 people , including two children.
They were taken to hospital, where 3 year old Asher Campbell was pronounced dead and the others treated and released.
Williams was later accosted by residents, taken to hospital, then handed over to the police.
On Thursday, he was pointed out during an identification parade.
Williams was then charged with murder, three counts of wounding with intent and two counts of unlawful wounding.
He is to appear in the St. Mary Parish Court, next Thursday June 13.
