The National Housing Trust (NHT) has issued a statement on the nature of its relationship with Stocks and Securities Limited, SSL.
According to the NHT’s statement, SSL has in the past formed part of a pool of brokerage institutions used by the NHT to purchase shares/stocks on the Equity Market.
The NHT says it therefore has a brokerage account, which reflects units purchased by SSL on behalf of the NHT in three securities listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, JSE.
The agency says it has independently verified the units held in these securities with the Jamaica Central Securities Depository which as at January 16, 2023, were valued at JMD$230M.
It says it does not consider its investment in these three securities, held through the brokerage account as exposed or in any way compromised.
