Since the saddening death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, Netflix is delaying the virtual preview of ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,’ the latest feature the actor was set to star in, alongside Viola Davis and Colman Domingo.
As many fans, family and close friends continue to mourn the loss of Boseman, who passed away Friday Aug 28 after a 4-year battle with colon cancer, which he kept entirely private.
Netflix has released a statement it reads:
“We are heartbroken over today’s news of the passing of Chadwick Boseman, a ‘true fighter’ as his family called him in their poignant tribute. This is an incredible loss. We are cancelling Monday’s preview event of ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.’ Please join us in sending your thoughts to his family and loved ones.”
Meanwhile, Ted Sarandos, Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer, wrote his own statement and hailed Boseman as “a superhero on screen and in life.”
