President of the Jamaica Teachers Association JTA Leighton Johnson, says there is no place for a ‘Dunce’ culture, within the island’s schools.

His comment comes amid controversy, over school bags with the word ‘Dunce’ printed on them.

This has created a public debate, over whether or not school administrators should prevent students from attending classes, if they sport these bags.

The Education Ministry has cautioned administrators against turning students away, if the students are not in compliance with schools rules.

In stressing his objection to the popular ‘Dunce’ culture, Johnson called on school children, to embrace more positive traits and influences.

He also urged students to utilize the opportunities available through education.
