As the COVID-19 numbers continue to climb, health workers are preparing for more intense days on the job, as hospitalizations increase.

The latest figures revealed that up to Saturday, 272 people were admitted to hospital because of COVID-19.

The Health and Wellness Ministry also reported that all major hospitals are over 100% for COVID-19 capacity, and it is believed that the Delta variant has contributed to the latest numbers.

The Ministry is reported to be increasing the number of medical workers among other measures, as it deals with the surge in cases.

President of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association Dr. Mindi Fitz-Henley says doctors are taking the brunt of the hit from the decisions made by others.
