The Financial Investigations Division (FID) says it forfeited amounts totalling almost four million Jamaican dollars from four persons in Hanover and St. James.

According to the FID, some $620,000 JMD, $14,400 USD and $11,000 CAD were seized from the individuals in three instances.

In commenting on the orders handed down by the courts, FID’s Principal Director Keith Darien said the cases highlight the ignorance of members of the public about the Proceeds of Crime Act, among other things.

Mr. Darien noted that increased vigilance by the authorities led to the seizure of the ill-gotten gains.
