Maquettes of statues for former 100m world-record-holder Asafa Powell and two-time Olympic 200m champion Veronica Campbell Brown, are currently in Jamaica and will be unveiled in the near future.

A maquette is a scale model or rough draft of an unfinished sculpture.

Jamaica’s Minister of Culture, Entertainment, Gender Affairs, and Sports, Olivia Grange,  made the announcement at the launch of the Racers Adidas Grand Prix at the Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston on Thursday, May 9.

The two maquettes are for the last of four statues commissioned of Basil Watson by the Jamaican government in honor of the contributions of the iconic Jamaican quartet of athletes.
