Today, Pearnel Charles-Junior, the standard-bearer for the Jamaica Labour Party for Clarendon South-East constituency is going up against Derrick Lambert, an independent who’s a former member of the People’s National Party, in a by-election for the seat.

Charles-Junior is expected to capitalize on the approach being taken by the Peoples National Party to not contest the election.

There are 41,308 electors who are eligible to exercise their democratic rights.

Should Charles-Junior win the seat, he’s expected to join his father, Charles-Senior in Parliament. Charles-Senior is the House Speaker. The polls are expected to close at 5 pm today.
