Five male students from the BB Coke High School in St Elizabeth who assisted the student who was badly beaten last week, were recognized and awarded by Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Jaheim Colman was beaten unconscious last Thursday, after allegedly stepping on an older boy’s shoe.

The five: Leon Barnes, Khari Green, Deajuan Gordon, Dejuan Powell and Garry Bartley were each presented with a laptop and a commendation yesterday at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Mr Holness said the young men exemplify what it means not to follow the crowd, to be a leader and not a follower, to break the mould and to stand up for what is right, even when others stand by and watch.

He thanked them for their courage, empathy and compassion stating that a life was saved and a nation has been inspired.
