Chief Executive Officer of the Firearm Licensing Authority, FLA, Shane Dalling has indicated that Microsoft, Google and Yahoo are cooperating with local authorities, in the probe on cyber attacks, reportedly aimed at maligning the integrity of the FLA.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Mr Dalling pointed out, that the malicious emails, Whatsapp messages, and Youtube posts, are part of a well orchestrated plot against the FLA.

The online messages, reportedly in circulation for about 4 years, were alleged to have been made by concerned staff members.

Mr. Dalling said an order was obtained from a court in the United States for Microsoft, Yahoo and Google, to submit data on the messages.

He noted that the persons behind the cyber attacks went to great lengths to disguise themselves, including using IP addresses in Zimbabwe.

The cyber attackers also reportedly lodged claims with organisations, such as the national integrity action, the integrity commission, and the US embassy, seeking to discredit the FLA, and accusing Mr Dalling of involvement in transnational crimes.

He said the US embassy is collaborating with the FLA to probe this matter.
