11 SUSPECTED EXTORTIONISTS ARRESTED FRIDAY

11 persons were arrested on suspicion of extorting operators of public passenger vehicles, in sections of the corporate area yesterday (Fri).

Head of the police’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, Assistant Commissioner Gary McKenzie, made the revelation.

He said the targeted operation, was a continuation of Operation Transportation Streamline, which began in September.

He noted that since the operation began, some 44 persons, suspected of carrying out acts of extortion, have been arrested and some of them convicted.
