Today (February 14), is the start of the two-day hearing for Vybz Kartel by the judicial committee of the Privy Council in London.
The matter is currently underway and being heard by Justices Lord Reed, Lord Lloyd Jones, Lord Briggs, Lord Simler and Lord Burrows.
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidjah Palmer, along with Kahira Jones, Andre St. John, and Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm, were convicted in March 2014 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
In 2020, they appealed their conviction in the Jamaica Court of Appeal.
Just before the hearing started, Kartel’s attorney said, “I believe in the Jamaican constitution; it is the last instrument in existence that restores humanity in Jamaica.”
