On Saturday, Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel allegedly responded to self-proclaimed Dancehall emperor, Bounty Killa. This follows an Instagram post on Bounty’s account stating that himself, Beenie and Buju (the 3 B’s) are the Dancehall emperors. In the post, Bounty also demanded utmost respect from younger artistes.
It seems Kartel offered a reply by sharing on his Instagram account a video of a televised interview he did in 2011 captioned,
“RESPECT ELDERS YES #BUT #FI #WAH? A NO UNUH START #DANCEHALL and #DANCEHALL no stop a unuh. ALL WHEN UNUH DEAD AND GONE DANCEHALL STILL A GWAAN.”
The topic of Dancehall royalty has been a heated one ever since Fox 5 New York acknowledged Vybz Kartel as the King of Dancehall. Will the discussion ever come to an end or will there be new titles to be claimed?
