A US fugitive was arrested by lawmen in Brown’s Town, St. Ann on Saturday.

Law enforcement was alerted when the man, who arrived on the island on a cruise ship on Monday, September 13, refused to re-board the ship when it departed.

He arrived under the name ‘Eric Lott’, however, investigations later revealed the name was fraudulent.

His true identity is 20-year-old Garfield Sewell, of Atlanta, Georgia, and he is wanted for murder and aggravated assault in the United States of America.

Members of the Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team, the Area Apprehension Team, US Marshalls and other US investigators pursued Sewell for 12 days and apprehended him about 4:10 p.m. in St. Ann.

He has since been charged for breaches of the Immigration Act and is scheduled to appear in the St. Ann Parish Court on Tuesday, September 28.
