States of Public Emergency SOEs, have been declared for Hanover, St. James, St. Catherine and Clarendon.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, in a press release this morning.

The SOEs will initially last for 14 days, having commenced at 12:01 this morning November 23.

Explaining the rationale behind the SOE’s, Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson, noted that the crime situation in the parishes is alarming.

He said the Clarendon police division recorded 99 murders, up to November 15, the fifth highest number of murders among all police divisions, marking a 14 percent increase compared to the similar period in 2022.
