Following a recent concert which featured Jamaican dancehall stars Skillibeng and Spice, Guyana’s leader of the opposition party Aubrey Norton believes dancehall music is bad.
The People’s National Congress Reform leader is saying the opposing party is responsible for a breakdown in values by encouraging young people to listen to “immoral music.”
Aubrey Norton referred to Spice and Skillibeng as the “worst of the Dancehall music.”
This comes after the recent Guyana Cricket Carnival where Spice and Skillibeng were performers. Norton pointed out that, while his party is not against music nor concerts, it will continue to oppose the promotion of entertainment and entertainers who “promote disrespect of women, lawlessness and violence.” He also claimed that most of the Dancehall music is not even popular in Jamaica.

Other notable performers were Beres Hammond, Machel Montano and Patrice Roberts.
