SENATE PASSES BILL TO AMEND THE CORRECTIONS ACT

The Senate has passed the bill to amend the Corrections Act.

The bill aimed at addressing the specific issue of prohibited items in Jamaica’s correctional institutions that allow for unauthorized communication outside the facilities, was passed yesterday (Fri).

Speaking in the Senate Minister Without Portfolio in the Ministry of National Security, Senator Matthew Samuda reiterated the importance of the bill, noting that some 2,000 phones have been seized in correctional facilities in recent months.
