Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson says the spilling over of criminal activities from last year into this year, has warranted the use of zones of special operations, ZOSOs across the country.
A 60 day ZOSO was imposed in sections of Westmoreland yesterday morning.
The areas include: Russia, Dalling Street and Dexter Street.
Major General Anderson said there was a 60 percent increase in murders in Westmoreland last year compared to 2020.
He stated that with these occurrences, a ZOSO had to be considered.
And Major General Anderson outlined that other ZOSOs have been successful so far.
