POLICE ANNOUNCE CLOSING TIMES FOR BUSINESSES IN WESTERN JAMAICA

With the imposition of a State of Public Emergency SOE in Western Jamaica, the security forces have issued a reminder to citizens and business owners, the requirements for operations.

The SOE was declared yesterday (Tues) in St. James, Hanover and Westmoreland and will last for 14 days.

Under the SOE, curfews have been imposed for businesses.

Clubs and fast food restaurants should operate from 6:00am to 12 midnight, while tavern license place can run from 7:00am to 10:00pm.

Petroleum filling stations are to operate from 6:00am to 11:00pm.

Supermarkets, grocery shops, haberdasheries, cook shops and other place offering goods for sale, as well as pharmacies can operate from 6:00am to 10:00pm.

Any other public place except a tourism enterprise or tourism accommodation, should operate from 7:00am to 10:00pm.

Meanwhile, residents and persons traveling to or through St. James, Westmoreland and Hanover, are being reminded that they should have a valid form of identification on them at all times.

Police said vehicular checkpoints have been set up in the operational areas and motorists should obey instructions of the officers on duty.

Members of the public in western Jamaica are being advised that customer service lines have been established for three detention centers.

For Westmoreland the number is 8-7-6-8-3-6-4-9-2-2, in Hanover persons may call 8-7-6-8-3-7-9-9-4-0 and for St. James the number is 8-7-6-8-3-6-4-3-0-3.
