The Integrity Commission has ruled that no charge should be brought against Prime Minister Andrew Holness, in relation to a probe into claims of a conflict of interest.

The ruling for the Commission was made public today (Thurs), following a submission to Parliament on January 12, just weeks before the tabling of the investigative report on Tuesday.

In its ruling, the Commission’s Director of Corruption Prosecution noted the recommendations made by the Director of Investigations, regarding a conflict of interest involving Mr. Holness and the awarding of contracts to Westcon Construction Company, whose operator is reportedly known to him.

The Commission noted that in its bid to substantiate the claims, further enquiries were made of the entity’s involved, to include the National Works Agency, the Social Development Commission and the Education Ministry.

It pointed out that Mr. Holness explained the circumstances relating to the emergency facilitation of payments for Christmas work and that there was no need to declare his association with Westcon’s Robert Gavin, as the STC was already aware that Gavin worked in Mr. Holness’s constituency, as a project officer.
