Hundreds of people have turned up at vaccination sites across the country on the last day of the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ week-long Covid vaccination blitz.

The blitz which started last Saturday, was facilitated by the arrival of 300,000 doses of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine from the United Kingdom last Friday July 30.

According to the Ministry, some 42,000 people had been vaccinated at the close of business yesterday (Wed).

A target of 150,000 doses had been set for the blitz, leaving the government with approximately 108,000 doses left to administer in one day.

While it’s unlikely that the target will be met, the ministry has rolled out its mobile vaccination unit today (Thurs) to speed things along.

The first scheduled stop was at the Sovereign Centre in Kingston this morning.

Meanwhile, vaccination continues at centers across the island, with the National Arena being the main center in the Corporate Area.
