The government has stressed that its not feasible to extend Zones of Special Operations, ZOSOs to wider geographic regions, at this time.
This, in the wake of calls for the measure to be implemented in more communities deemed volatile and in need of intervention.
Mention was also made of the limited number of district covered by the ZOSO imposed on Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.
Responding to the concerns in Parliament yesterday (Tues), National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang pointed out that the decision to implement a ZOSO, is in part influenced by a trigger.
This will prompt a response, targeting the nexus of the problem.
Dr. Chang said sometimes, inadequate funding is a factor.
He noted, that the analysis provided by the security forces is an important deciding factor.
