The Meteorological Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, and Manchester effective until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

A broad Trough across the central Caribbean is producing unstable weather conditions across Jamaica.

Observational Data indicate that moderate and at times heavy showers and thunderstorms have been affecting sections of eastern and central parishes since early this morning.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times to continue to affect most parishes, with the greatest intensity over eastern and central parishes throughout today into Wednesday.

Flash flooding is therefore likely over low-lying and flood-prone areas of these parishes. Additionally, strong gusty winds are expected to affect sections of mainly southern parishes.
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly. Motorists and pedestrians should not attempt to cross flooded roadways or other low-lying areas as strong currents are likely.

Residents in low-lying areas should be on the alert for rising waters and be ready to move quickly to higher ground.
