The driver of the ill-fated vehicle involved in a crash that claimed the life of a 23 year old woman on Saturday has been charged.

23-year-old Shadedra Williams of Four Paths in Clarendon died when the Mercedes Benz motorcar in which she was travelling in crashed into a parked truck on the Mandela Highway in St. Catherine. It then collided with a Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, PSTEB, Gary McKenzie says the driver has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

Williams recently returned to the island after graduating from the University of South Florida in the United States.

Several tributes have come via social media as family and friends tried to make sense of the tragedy.
