Dancehall icon Buju Banton is gearing up to kick his career back into high gear as he recently dropped his first dancehall single since his release from prison in the US titled “Steppa”, which came with a surprise announcement. Steppa reportedly is the first single from his upcoming album.
The Grammy-winning Jamaican music legend announced the new single on Tuesday night, July 16 via his social media accounts and the album announcement came last night. The track, “Steppa” arrived on all streaming platforms on Wednesday and within an hour the lyric video began trending on YouTube.
Following the release of the single, Buju linked up with international talkshow host E Bro from Apple’s Beats 1 Music in the US on Thursday to announce that he is working on a new album, take a listen.
Also, in order to avoid any misconceptions of the meaning for the word ‘Steppa’, the Gargamel took time to clearly define the term.
Now he is yet to announce the name or a release date for the album but you can catch Buju ripping up the stage at Sum Fest on Saturday, July 20, in Montego Bay.
