Kim Kardashian-West has helped another African-American who has been imprisoned.

On Sunday, Kim offered to pay 5 years of rent for a former inmate named Matthew Charles.

Matthew Charles served 20 of his 35-year sentence for a non-violent drug and weapons charges. He was the first to be released under new prison reform laws. Matthew was released on January 3, 2019.

According to TMZ, Kim first heard of Charles’ story through an article posted on Twitter where Charles was granted early release in May 2016 but two years later he was ordered to finish out the rest of his sentence because the court reversed the previous judge’s ruling stating it was an unfair sentence.

According to the website, Kim reached out to Charles on Sunday and generously offered to pay his rent and to help him find a place to live. Charles posted about the good news on Facebook saying,

“I just received the most wonderful news tonight that I just had to share with everyone. Kim Kardashian-West heard about my situation. Was moved and has decided to help me.”

This is not the first time Kim has made it her mission to help black ex-convicts. As was reported by the Zee in June 2018, Kim made an appeal directly to President Trump for Alice Johnson, a mother-of-five, grandmother-of-six and great-grandmother of one, who was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after being convicted of drug dealing in 1996.
