Incarcerated Dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel is claiming his Maroon bloodline.
According to a post made on the entertainer’s verified Instagram account on Thursday (August 12), his great grandfather was a Maroon Chief.
On the social media platform, Vybz Kartel shared a post showing his great grandfather and grandmother with his over 1.7 million followers, which he captioned, “Former Maroon Chief Colonel Sydney Preddie is my great grandfather (my granny’s dad) so doh feel like me a look a hype. Big up the new Chief @chiefrichardcurrie and the entire Accompong Town.”
Vybz Kartel’s post about his Maroon bloodline came following reports that Maroon Chief Richard Currie had to use modern means to defend his people after law enforcement officials trespassed on their farmlands.
The matter has since sparked an investigation with the FLA (Firearm Licensing Authority).
