Carnival Organizers Criticized For Poor Garbage Management


Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie has criticized carnival organizers for the garbage left behind along several streets in Kingston following the event yesterday.

In a statement, Mr. McKenzie noted that in the wake of the carnival celebrations significant amount of debris were left in various parts of the corporate area, raising concerns among residents, commuters and business owners.

The Minister said while he appreciates the cultural significance of carnival, he’s gravely concerned about the state of the streets.

Mr. McKenzie said celebrations should not compromise the cleanliness and safety of the city, adding that its imperative to find a balance that upholds cultural heritage while maintaining the city’s beauty and health.
