Travis Scott’s music festival left 8 dead, dozens injured

On the first night of rapper Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, a crowd surge killed at least eight people and injured dozens more.

According to emergency personnel, panic ensued when the crowd began to press in front of the stage.

Eleven people in cardiac arrest were taken to hospitals, eight of whom died. Some of the victims are under the age of ten.

The outdoor event, which was canceled, drew 50,000 people.

The two-day event, called the Astroworld festival, was started in 2018 by Travis Scott, who is from Houston and who named it after a best-selling album he released that year.
