The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) this morning announced the nominations for their new category, and six Jamaicans are up for the top spot.
In no particular order, we have Koffee, Popcaan, Spice, Skillibeng, Shenseea and Sean Paul. Skillibeng is the only Jamaican nominated for ‘Best International Act’ category.
To celebrate their silver jubilee, the ‘Best Reggae Act’ category has been swapped for ‘Best Caribbean Music Act’. The Reggae category was initially introduced in 1997.
The MOBO Awards are an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in music of black origin, including hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
The MOBO awards will be held on November 30 at the OVO Arena in London.
