The security forces are to maintain a strong presence in St. James as the State of Emergency comes to an end.

The State of Emergency expired at midnight. It has been in place since January last year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake and Colonel Radgh Mason of the Jamaica Defense Force, had a high level meeting to discuss the joint effort needed to keep the residents of St. James safe as the SOE is lifted.

Information Minister Senator Ruel Reid says all resources will be used to ensure that the numbers are maintained on the ground.
