SEVERAL GOV’T MINISTERS TO TOUR FLOOD DAMAGED PARISHES TODAY

Several government ministers are expected to tour today (Wed), Areas of the 3 parishes which were affected by flood waters, last week.

The team, being lead by Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Desmond Mckenzie, will visit St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, to assess conditions and pave the way for further interventions to assist affected residents.

Agriculture Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. and Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Matthew Samuda, will be apart of the team.

It will also include the members of parliament from the constituencies, mayors and representatives from a number of agencies, including Senior Director of Project Implementation at the National Works Agency, Varden Downer.

The Local Government Ministry says the Ministry of Labour and Social Security is already active on the ground in providing relief supplies.

One of the objectives of the tour is to see what more can be done to complement the work being done by government agencies.
