The Westmoreland Police have charged 28-year-old Junior James, otherwise called ‘Shotta’ with several offences stemming from an incident that occurred on August 27.

James has been charged with Assault at Common-law, Robbery with Aggravation and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.

The charges stem from an incident in which it alleged that about 4:00 p.m., James and three other men confronted the complainant in his yard. James then allegedly pointed a firearm at the complainant, who ran in fear for his life.

It is further alleged that James and the other men then entered the complainant’s house and removed a metal safe which contained JM $380,000 and other cash—JM $58,000 and US $100—from the complainant’s wallet. The thieves also reportedly stole two cellular phones.

The matter was reported to the Police and James was identified as a suspect.

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, about 4:00 p.m., James was arrested at the Savanna-la-Mar Police Station while reporting on condition of bail for another offence.

He was subsequently charged on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, after an interview in the presence of his attorney.
