Petrojam Jamaica says it is prepared for significant fuel shortages that are set to impact the world this coming winter, due to limited production in Europe, caused by the war in Ukraine.

Cuts to the supply of Russian gas since the invasion, have plunged European countries into an energy crisis.

The cuts have also impacted wholesale prices to smaller countries, such as Jamaica, which import from these countries.

The company’s General Manager, Winston Watson who was speaking at a private sector forum, held this morning, said Jamaica is preparing for the coming winter shortage by seeking supplies from other countries.

Meanwhile, Petrojam Limited’s chairman, Wayne Chen, said another process the company has implemented is ramping up oil storage, to ensure the country never runs out.
