UHWI Adds Over 100 Beds Amid Hospital Reform Drive

The University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) says it is adding more than 100 new beds as part of efforts to address concerns raised by nurses in the Accident and Emergency Department.

The nurses had staged a protest on Tuesday over issues including overcrowding, poor facilities, and faulty air conditioning, before returning to duty after meeting with management.

 

JCF Records Historic $3 Billion Cocaine Seizure

The Jamaica Constabulary Force says it has recorded a historic seizure of more than 5,100 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately $3 billion, during the first half of 2026.
