Opposition Spokesperson for Justice, Senator Donna Scott-Mottley is calling on the Prime Minister to withdraw a comment made during a press conference yesterday when he sought to defend the use of states of emergency in seven police divisions to fight against crime.

Senator Scott-Mottley warns that when the Prime Minister dismisses a discussion on the use of states of emergency as academic, the country has embarked on a slippery slope.

She says one key oath made by parliamentarians is to uphold and protect the Constitution.

She is encouraging the Prime Minister to retract his statement.
