One person is dead, and several others were injured, in a two-vehicle crash along the PJ Patterson Highway, near March Pen, in St. Catherine, this afternoon.

The identity of the deceased person is being withheld, pending notification to relatives.

Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP. Gary Mckenzie, said based on reports, a motor car stopped on the roadway, causing a Toyota Coaster bus to run into the rear of the vehicle.

Meantime, the traffic police have raised concern about how some motorists use the highways, noting that their actions often result in crashes on thoroughfares built for accommodating high-speed travelling.

He said at least three persons are hospitalized, with serious injuries.

ACP Mckenzie stressed that if motorists are having challenges while on the highway, they should pull over to avoid obstructing others.
